Bint el Shahbandar (The Chief of Merchants' Daughter) is a Lebanese-Syrian co-produced historical drama series that aired during Ramadan 2015, set in Beirut at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Written by Hozan Akko and directed by Seif Eddin Sbei, the 30-episode series — each episode approximately 45 minutes — centres on Nariman (Sulafa Memar), daughter of the Shahbandar (the head merchant), who is loved by two brothers, Ragheb (Kosai Khauli) and Zaid (Qais Sheikh Najib), sons of the neighbourhood's chief; after she marries Zaid, his sudden disappearance sets off a two-year mystery entangled with Ottoman-era political intrigue. Produced by Mofeed Al Refai's Media Revolution 7 and filmed in Kesrwan, Lebanon, the ensemble cast further includes Rafic Sbei, Mona Wassef, Samera Baroudi, Dima Jundi, Diamand Abou Abboud, Sara Abi Kanaan, Fadi Ibrahim, and Toni Issa, among other Syrian and Lebanese stars.
