About Us
The Syndicate of Actors in Lebanon was founded in 1948 as the official home of theater, cinema, radio and television actors — to defend their rights and elevate their profession.
By Decision No. 6098, issued on 10 September 1948 by the Minister of National Economy and Social Affairs, Philippe Takla, a licence was granted to establish a syndicate named “The Syndicate of Theater and Cinema Actors in Lebanon.”
The licence named the founders: Takla Daher Chamoun, Youssef Hosni Ahmad Qaranouh, Mohammad Rachid Farkadan, and Zain Al-Abidine Mohammad Saidani.
The syndicate’s purpose, as stated in the decision, is to safeguard its members’ interests, defend them, elevate the standards of the profession, and improve their financial, social and moral conditions — the same mission the syndicate carries to this day.
