Report of the General Assembly held on 28/11/2021

On Sunday, November 28, 2021, the Lebanese Actors Syndicate held its annual general assembly at Sunflower Theater – Tayouneh, with significant attendance from the artistic community despite the country's ongoing health and social challenges.

The session began with the Lebanese national anthem and a moment of silence to honor the departed members. The agenda included: the annual statement, future projects, the financial report, approval of the final accounts, discharge of the board, freezing and expulsion of members, setting the annual subscription fee, and scheduling the general elections.

President Nehme Badawi presented the Council's key achievements during his term, including: finalization of the Syndicate's new internal regulations; continued meetings with artistic syndicates to secure the professional artist law; a 2019 agreement with the American Diagnostic Center; preparations for the Syndicate's 70th anniversary celebration at Casino du Liban; full enrollment of senior members into the unified artist mutual fund; quiet distribution of food and medicine to members in need; a year of chronic-medication support from Omnipharma; social-health benefits via the Lebanese Army and Ministry of Health; revival of the syndicate ID card; support and enforcement of dubbing rights; participation in the Arab National Theatre Festival (Sharjah – UAE), Antoine Kerbage Edition; Japanese artists' aid after the Beirut Port blast; and a posthumous medal for the late Houssam El Sabbah.

For upcoming projects the president highlighted ongoing lobbying for the artist's professional law, a new healthcare partnership with the NGO "Ayadi Nass," and preparation for the Lebanese Artist Retirement Home.

The treasurer presented the financial report, which was approved, and the council was discharged. Annual dues were set at LBP 120,000 and the syndicate ID at LBP 30,000. General elections for twelve council seats were scheduled for Sunday, February 20, 2022.
